Attractions: 8ha of native bush that is one of the last natural vegetation areas formed on Staveley soils on the high Canterbury Plains. There is a good stand of beech, white pine and matai forest, with a valuable collection of Coprosma species and numerous other plants, fungi, lichen and birds. Half of the bush is wetter than the other. A few minutes up Kowai Rd is Kowai Bush, a private reserve open to the public. There are Mountain views, autumn colours and the Waimakariri River nearby.
