What to Bring: Good footwear/boots are essential, also wet weather and warm gear for winter conditions.  A walking pole could be helpful.  Snacks, lunch, thermos for tea or coffee.  NPS Emergency Information Sheet in camera bag.  Camera gear.

Meet at:  9:00am at the Washpen Falls Car Park, 590 Washpen Road, Windwhistle, Darfield.  A map will be provided prior to the trip.  It is about an hour’s drive from Christchurch.  There is a coffee stop in Hororata on the way if needed.  Car-pooling could be arranged from Yaldhurst.

Other Info:  Allow 2 – 3 hours for the walkway.  It is a formed track, which is rough in places.  A moderate level of fitness is required.  It is steep and potentially muddy in places.  We can either have our food and drink back at the car park after the walk, or for those who chose to go up to the tops perhaps have lunch up there.

There is a track fee of $10 per person payable at the carpark.
