Trip Report by John Stone
July 22 2015
There’s always something to see and photograph in the Botanical Gardens at any time of the year. With this in mind, six NPS members massed on the shores of Victoria Lake with high expectations of capturing action shots of birds and miniature Americas’ Cup yacht racing. With a partly cloudy day and total lack of wind, we were able to use the same shutter speed for the remote control yachts as we did to shoot the ducks sleeping and the lilies growing. With no end to the boat race in sight, we moved on over to Garrick House to photograph the cacti and succulents and Cuningham House for the tropicals. Here, macro lenses and creative filters were the order of the day. Finally, on to the café for the next order of the day – flat whites. Thanks to Liz for organizing a great mid-week day out. We all thoroughly enjoyed it!
