Trip Report: Jane Coulter
About 12 members joined forces to hunt elephants in the inner city. We had a great time getting photos of the colourful elephants as we followed the trail. Some members were getting quite creative with multiple exposures and fancy phone app’s, while others had to wait patiently for the crowds to part leaving space to photograph these fun critters with a city backdrop.
Elmer’s Otautahi Elephant Trail is on from Saturday 25 November 2023 to Sunday 18 February 2024.
There are 30 large elephants, individually designed by professional and emerging artists, displayed in Christchurch and surrounding towns.
Within Turanga, there is a collection of baby elephants as well.
The Laura Fergusson Brain Injury Trust has partnered with global public art specialists Wild in Art to bring this new sculpture trail to Christchurch.
After the Trail, the sculptures will be auctioned to raise money to enable the Laura Fergusson Brain Injury Trust to support people impacted by traumatic brain and other complex injuries throughout Canterbury.
Once we reached the Margaret Mahey playground, and the temperatures were soaring, we adjourned for a refreshing gelato.
Thank you to Andrea for organising such a fun morning of urban landscapes.
