Oamaru – 2 to 4 October
Report By David Sutton

The Oamaru field trip had unusually calm warm weather at 22 degrees at 8 am on the Saturday morning, making ideal conditions for photographing the boulders (septarian concretions) at Kaitaki Beach.

The accommodation at Riverside Haven worked well, and dinner at the Moeraki Tavern came promptly, especially considering the numbers of patrons on holiday there.

Some members chose to extend their visit and stay on a few days.

Sunday was overcast making ideal conditions for macro and bird photography.  The shags were in their breeding plumage and relatively relaxed about being quietly approached.  It was a good weekend.
