Orana Park Trip Report

by Carolyn Elcock

On the hottest day of summer so far, four club members visited Orana Park. We started by watching the otters playing the water, perhaps they knew just how hot it was going to get. The trees, between the giraffes and path, have been pruned and makes it easy to watch them from path.  Over lunch it was discovered, we each had a different brand of camera. As the day got hotter, most of the native birds in the aviary were sheltering in shade. The keeper fed the tiger by throwing a meaty snack into the moat, which it reluctantly stepped into retrieve.
Thanks Pol for organizing.
