Field Trip: Propagating Houses at the Christchurch Botanical Gardens.
Trip Leader: Maureen
Trip Report: Liz
The Wednesday morning field trip to the propagating houses at the Christchurch Botanic Gardens was a great way to spend a chilly July day.
We were welcomed and then allowed to wander amongst the aisles of plants. It is a treasure house.
There were beautiful orchids in flower, spiky cacti, weird pitcher plants and dainty ferns as well as trays of seedlings waiting to be potted on.
I think we all wished our own indoor plants looked so healthy.
Thank you Maureen for organising the trip, it give me an insight into all the behind the scenes work that make the Botanical Gardens such a great place to visit.
We all enjoyed coffee and a catch up in the cafe next door.
