Trip Report – Washpen Falls 15/01/2021
On a lovely sunny morning a small group of 4 of us set off to walk around the Washpen Falls loop track. It was cool and shady and very pleasant with the calls of birds and the fast-flowing stream. As we climbed up there was plenty of interest – volcanic rocks, flowering plants including the rata, a stink-horn fungus, and the birds. After enjoying the view from the top, we went down to the falls. Plenty of water flowing, though the light made it tricky to take photos. Then a walk out beside the stream, while learning something of the interesting history of the valley. Thanks to Eric and Judy for organising a great day.
