Trip Guide and Trip Report – Bob

On a beautiful sunny day giving us the taste of Spring in the air a friendly group of eight met on the river bank at the world renowned Margaret Mahey Play Ground at 9.15am. We enjoyed a stroll along Cambridge Terrance past the derelict rotunda, to the Scots Settlers flowering memorial plot and then on past the Convention Centre and back to the river behind the Law Courts. The growing Canada Geese population and a variety of Ducks on the grassed river bank areas between Gloucester Street and Cashel Street gave the opportunity to get a some beautiful nature scenes with some lovely refections.  Spring appears to be a little late this year with many budding plants and only a few in flower.  Most of the larger deciduous trees are still in their winter nudity although it was lovely to see the Kowhai in flower with a Bellbird feeding. It was really pleasing to have Annette one of our newer members join us. Our Avon River in the City stroll end with an enjoyable coffee and chat at one of the many coffee establishments in New Regent Street.
