BIRDS OF AUSTRALIA

During the 1800s paintings, drawings and lithographs of birds were depicted in styles that emphasized their colourful beauty as exemplified by the works of Edward Lear, and John and Elizabeth Gould who dedicated their artistry to avian portraiture.  For this portfolio I have photographed the birds in their wild habitats but have portrayed them in a similar style to the works of Lear and the Goulds.  The layout shows cooler hues on the left, warmer hues on the right, with vivid primary and complementary colours centrally.  Pencil drawings were made and photographed by the author.
