“I live in Gore where I have spent over 40 years working in the health field.
I have always been interested in photography, but that interest became more serious following two trips to southern Africa in 2009/2010, where I discovered birds as well as the more famous mammals. Since then, all forms of nature photography have become my focus.
I became interested and have had many successes in photographic competitions, mainly the PSNZ national and regionals, other PSNZ salons, but also NZ Geographic, and international ones like Bird Photographer of the Year and Wildlife Photographer of the Year. Not having a mentor, those competitions helped me to gauge the level of my ability within the nature photography sphere.
More recently I have relaxed on the competition side of things, preferring to use photography to assist conservation, specifically the critically endangered Pukunui |Southern New Zealand Dotterel.
