Trip report by Emma McCusker
Gore Bay turned on a sunny, cloudless day for the group of 10 keen photographers. The morning was spent exploring rock pools in search of critters, seaweeds and the perfect photo. Sue and Maureen stayed over-night to catch sunrise photos. Rob’s birdwatching skills proved useful for more than one reason. The first being, finding the Katherine’s (the trip leader’s) boots and the other was much more exciting. Members of the group spotted a Falcon taking a Kereru (native wood pigeon) out of the sky, with Rob’s telescope we were able to observe the Falcon up close.
We enjoyed a pleasant lunch at the Cheviot Domain followed by some last minute shots of the autumn colours before heading home. Overall it was a thoroughly enjoyable day.
