Christchurch Botanical Gardens on the 23rd September 2020

Trip Leader: Maureen Pierre
Trip Report: Yvonne Marshall

Twelve of us joined Maureen for the morning in the Christchurch Botanic Gardens.
So well-timed, as it was warm and sunny, and many spring flowers were at their peak.
The first stop was to admire the Wollemi Pine. It is one of the oldest plants on earth (90 million years old) and was only rediscovered in 1994!
The Tulips were magnificent, brilliant yellows, reds and orange. The Ranunculi were perfect with such a range of colours. I loved the red and black ones.
A few of us were playing with our Lens Babies after Priscilla’s great photos with her Lens Baby at the club.
As usual, we finished with coffee in the Ilex café, it is worth going just for the coffee!
So, thanks again to Maureen, who knows the gardens so well, for showing us the prime areas to target at this time of year.
