Totara Stumps at Port Levy Saddle – 21st January 2017

Trip Leader: Katherine
Trip Report By: Carolyn.

After gathering at Little River to car pool, about 20 members travelled up the steep road to the Saddle. The weather was a great improvement on the first time I went, no fog but still a cold wind. Hundreds of felled Totara stumps sculptured by the elements make an amazing foreground for landscapes, while others found wonderful opportunities for macros. The views from the top are magnificent, north down to Port Levy and south towards Little River and on to Lake Forsythe. A small stand of Totara provided shelter from the wind for lunch, watched over by a bellbird. Coffee at Little River on the way home gave us another chance to talk photography with like minded souls.
Thank you to Katherine for organising a great day.
