Workshop report: John Leathwick.
A diverse range of topics were presented at a workshop run by the Society on the morning of Saturday September 22, with close to 20 people attending. Contributions included a demonstration of rock specimen preparation and photography by Kamen and Tyler from the Rock and Mineral Club (whose clubrooms we use for our meetings); Robert Green demonstrated how to set up monitors and profiles on our computers for printing photograph files; Greg Mackenzie gave a high-tech demo of techniques for image stacking for macro photography; John Leathwick demonstrated the technical advantages of using tilt-shift lenses to control perspective and depth of field, and for perfect panorama stitching; Dawn Kirk talked about her hotspots for bird photography and showed what catches her eye; and James Thompson set up and demonstrated the use of gear for doing droplet photography.
All in all it was a stimulating and diverse set of topics – thanks to the presenters and to James for his organisation of the event.
