Midweek group trip to Willowbank on the 24th April 2018
Trip Guide: Pol
Trip Report: Maureen
Lovely weather, and a tip from Kim that we should go to the kea enclosure first made a great start to the trip today. We had the enclosure to ourselves for quite some time which made it easier to take photos. The group of 7 of us set off, joined by Barry later at the café. The birds were active, but very hard to catch on the wing – I didn’t manage it, so I’ll be interested to see who did! We needed to watch our bags, cameras and glasses – and they loved Alistair’s jumper. We spent over an hour in the enclosure and after a short walk through to see if we could spot a kiwi it was time for coffee and a very nice banana/salted caramel muffin.
After food and a chat we headed off again around the rest of the reserve, where the farm animals and more exotic animals were.
An interesting morning, and great to practice taking photos of the wildlife, which hopefully will mean more success out in the wild. Thanks to Pol for organising, and to everyone for the company.
